Norwegian craftsmanship

at the worlds largest boat show

Despite of the ice cold winter raging outside, the worlds largest boat fair kicks off this year’s European boat season. Inside the halls covering the Boot Düsseldorf Show in Germany, over 200.000 visitors have come to see the 2010 boat models exhibited. Among majestic cabin cruisers and vessels as large as 122 feet, the traditional Norwegian leisure boat Skager 660 is to be found.

Together with 1568 exhibitors from 55 different countries, you can find Skager 660 in hall 9. Along with other well known Norwegian brands, like Joda, Nidelv, Marex, Viknes, Hydrolift and Windy, the Skager represents the Scandinavian quality of craftsmanship. To many Europeans, the Norwegian flag symbolises safety at sea and long boatbuilding traditions. – Quality means a lot, but not everything! says Knut Heiberg-Andersen from Windy Boats AS. – Price is also important. We need to have a commercial view on the quality we produce, he says. That being said, Norwegian boat builders are prodigies to other manufacturers in Europe, as regards quality. At trade fairs, we always present the Norwegian flag on our boats, and it stays there throughout the whole exhibition – it truly attracts people’s attention. It’s a beautiful flag, and it symbolises high quality standards, Andersen finishes.

Skager 660 wishes to take the Norwegian character in to the future, concerning both the Nordic style and the importance of quality. – A boat produced on proud traditions in a country with such a long coastal line, is something respectable. This is an important contribution to the Europan boating industry, and to the world’s largest boat fair, says Erling Nilsen from Skagerboat.
